Teacher Guide:
Offers three “hands-on” activity sessions (each session lasting two
50 minute periods), activity worksheets, evaluations, reference
materials, and extensions. Topics are related to non-renewable
resources, underground formations, geology, underground resources,
fossil fuels, oil deposits, gas deposits, oil formations, gas
formations, mineral deposits, drilling for oil, drilling for gas,
gold deposits, mining, predicting, plotting, logging cores, and
offers a starting point for discussion of the pros/cons of fracking.
Other activities include 3-D topographic map construction using kit
clay to create landscape features (hills, river valleys, plateaus,
depressions, etc.).

boards, colored clay blocks, hand held “drill rigs”, Teacher Guide
with three “hands-on” lab worksheets, reference materials, and
