Groundwater Table
Available From:
NASCO,
Frey,
Ward's Natural
Science
Grade Level: Middle School/High School
Subjects: Earth Science, Environmental Science, Hydrology
The Groundwater Table simulates many real-world groundwater events relating to the water cycle, aquifers, Artesian springs, recharge zones, and contaminated water wells. Other activities include sinkholes, caverns, geysers, and hot springs.
Food coloring dye is used to trace underground pathways of clean and/or polluted water using a pre-molded water channel model and a pump.
The Groundwater Table simulates potential residential and commercial contamination from pesticides, fertilizers, chemicals, septic tanks, uncapped abandon wells, wetlands, and landfills.
Teacher Guide lessons may be adapted to grade-level performance expectations. Designed for overhead and/or digital camera projection and classroom table top presentations.

SEA FLOOR SIMULATOR KIT "Seascape"
Available From:
NASCO,
Frey,
Ward's Natural
Science,
Forestry Suppliers Inc.
Grade Level: Middle School/High
School
Subject:
Earth Science, Environmental Science
This durable versatile model is designed to be hand-held or submersed in a standard ten-gallon aquarium. Major sea floor topographic features and plate tectonic graphics are depicted on the 3-D model.
The seascape model is designed to give students a view of sea floor geology, as well as, colorful cut-away profiles illustrating sea floor spreading and continental drift.
Aquarium activities simulate several variables related to ocean circulation such as turbidity, salinity, convection, density, and upwelling currents. Food coloring dye, salt, and ice are used to give the viewer a first-hand look at how currents move across the ocean surface, flow down slopes, and sweep along the sea floor. When submersed the model also simulates rift vent and volcanic eruptions.
Teacher Guide lessons and activities may be adapted to grade-level performance expectations.

FLOW TABLE KIT
"Fluid Dynamics Simulator"
Available from -
Ward's Natural
Science,
Or Ward's Natural
Science,
Forestry Suppliers Inc.
Grade Level: Middle School/High School/College
Subject:
Earth Science, Space Science,
Environmental Science, Physical
Science and Engineering
Simulate over fifty real-world water, air, and
magma events.
Air Masses, Fronts
Flow Table may be used as a “wind tunnel”,
stream table, wave tank, or ripple tank. It is
simple to use. Pre-cut event plates are placed
in moving water or Rheoscopic fluid. Dye
highlights changes in linear and circular flow
patterns.
Earth, Space, Environmental Science Water Cycle, Groundwater Flow
Activities include: air masses, fronts, jet
streams, groundwater, pollution, currents,
rivers, plate tectonics, volcanic eruptions,
comets, solar wind, magnetic field, etc.
Physical Science, Engineering Design
Activities include: Bernoulli's principle,
aerodynamic and hydrodynamic objects,
flight, draft, eddies, ventilation and airborne Plate Tectonics, Volcanoes
germ transmission, channels, sound, water,
seismic waves, etc.
Teacher Guide lessons may be adapted to
grade-level performance expectations.
Designed for overhead and/or digital camera
projection and classroom table top
presentations.

ROCK CYCLE RESOURCES KIT
"You Be The Geologist"
Available from -
Ward's Natural
Science,
NASCO,
Grade Level: Middle School/High School/College
Subject:
Earth Science, Environmental Science
Students are the Geologist! They will analyze basic rock
cycle information, predict where minerals and fossil fuels
may be found by “logging the cores”, and actually drill for
simulated deposits of gold, oil, gems, and diamonds.
Deposits are colored coded for identification.
This “hands-on” kit engages students in field-like Gathering & Plotting
experiences involving real-world exploration situations.
Activities require students to use inductive-deductive
reasoning skills, problem solve, make group decisions,
develop hypothesis/theories, plot, predict, take risks,
draw conclusions, and evaluate outcomes.
Teacher Guide: Offers three "hands-on" activity sessions
(each session lasting two 50 minute periods), activity
worksheets, evaluations, reference materials, and
extensions. Topics for discussion relate to non-renewable Predicting & Drilling
resources, underground formations, rock and mineral
deposits, fracking, and other mining techniques..
Other activities include 3-D topographic map construction
using kit clay to create landscape features (hills, river
valleys, plateaus, depressions, etc.).
Activities are designed to be adapted to grade-level
expectations.
